The Majestas Consort

The Majestas Consort is the Cathedral’s adult voluntary choir. They are a group of around 30 friendly amateur singers who perform 2-3 times per term. These occasions usually fall on major feasts in the Cathedral calendar, including services on All Souls’ Day, Ash Wednesday, Passion Sunday, and the First Eucharist of Christmas. Their repertoire extends from music of the renaissance through to 21st Century works. Recent performances have included the Requiems of Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé and John Rutter, as well as Bob Chilcott’s setting of the St John Passion.

Rehearsal schedules are flexible. The Cathedral Consort generally meets to rehearse on two or three Fridays before their performance. If you are interested in joining the Cathedral Consort, please contact the Assistant Director of Music, Aaron Shilson, via email: aaronshilson@llandaffcathedral.org.uk
