Every child has a voice worth discovering.

Majestas Kids is Llandaff Cathedral’s fun, friendly after-school choir for children aged 7–13. Whether your child already loves to sing or is just beginning their musical journey, Majestas Kids offers a welcoming place to build confidence, make friends and experience the joy of making music together. Performance opportunities include occasions such as the Cathedral Christmas Fair and occasional services throughout the year.

There are no auditions and no previous musical experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to have fun.

Why sing?

Singing is about so much more than music.

Research shows that singing together helps children develop confidence, communication skills, concentration and teamwork. It encourages creativity, improves listening skills and gives children a real sense of achievement as they work towards performances together.

At Majestas Kids, we believe every child should have the opportunity to experience these benefits in an encouraging and supportive environment.

What happens each week?

Each Wednesday afternoon our sessions are full of energy, creativity and laughter.

Children will:

• Learn how to use their voices to sing healthily.
• Develop musicianship and music-reading skills.
• Take part in fun musical games and activities.
• Explore a wide variety of music and singing styles.
• Build confidence through singing as part of an ensemble.
• Make new friends who share a love of music.

Every session is designed to inspire young musicians while ensuring they enjoy every minute.

Performing together

Throughout the year, Majestas Kids has opportunities to perform in the beautiful surroundings of Llandaff Cathedral, often alongside the other Majestas choirs and the Cathedral choir.

These seasonal performances give children the excitement of working towards a shared goal while experiencing the thrill of performing in one of Wales’ most inspiring buildings.

Meet the Leader

Majestas Kids is led by Llandaff Cathedral’s Music Animateur Rachel Kilby, an experienced music educator who is passionate about helping young people discover the enjoyment of singing. Rachel creates engaging rehearsals that balance learning with fun, ensuring every child feels encouraged and included.

Rehearsals

When: Wednesdays during term time, 4.30pm–5.30pm
Refreshments are available from 4.00pm.

Where: Llandaff Cathedral

Cost: £25 per term or £60 per academic year

Age: 7–13 years

Auditions: None – everyone is welcome.
