Llandaff Cathedral is searching for new Choristers

Llandaff Cathedral Choir is looking for boys and girls currently in Year 3 to audition to join in September 2026. Potential choristers are not expected to have any formal singing experience, but a love of music is very much essential to the role. If their audition is successful, new choristers will join the choir at the start of the academic year in September 2026 and receive a subsidised place at The Cathedral School, Llandaff.

Choral music is the beating heart of daily life at Llandaff Cathedral. Recently the choir has performed for King Charles III and broadcast live on television as well as on BBC Radio 3, Radio 4 and BBC Radio Wales. Alongside these highlights, Choristers also have the opportunity to record, tour internationally and sing in the inspiring surroundings of Llandaff Cathedral.

In addition to daily music making at a professional standard, Choristers receive an outstanding education at The Cathedral School, Llandaff. This special partnership, unique in Wales, allows children to combine academic excellence with a first-class musical education.

Being a chorister is a life-changing experience where children not only foster a love of music but learn important skills to carry them forward in life, including team skills, concentration and focus. There is also our brilliant relationship with the Cathedral School to ensure the choristers have a full and varied education with a focus on their well-being and fun.

Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible with a final deadline of Friday 22nd May. Auditions for prospective choristers will be organised when applications are received and will be held at Llandaff Cathedral. Application forms are available from the Cathedral School Registrar.
