Summer Organ Recitals
The Cathedral Summer Concert Series returns for 2019 with three Organ Recitals and the Cathedral Choir’s annual Summer Concert. Recitalists from two other Cathedrals will come to Llandaff in May and July to put the renowned 2010/13 Nicholson Organ through its paces whilst the Cathedral’s own Director of Music will perform a recital in June. Admission to the Organ Recitals is FREE with a retiring collection and each begins at 7.30pm. Director of Music Stephen Moore is looking forward to the series, and commented “It will be wonderful to welcome my eldest brother to perform here in Llandaff on Wednesday 15 May. Tom has been Director of Music in Wakefield for a number of years now. I grew up watching his inspiring playing as I began my own musical journey. In July we look forward to Jonathan Hope coming from Gloucester Cathedral to perform. Jonathan is widely regarded as being amongst the brightest stars of his generation of church musicians and will no doubt provide an electrifying performance.” The full schedule of the summer concert series is as follows:
Wednesday 15 May – Thomas Moore, Wakefield Cathedral
Wednesday 12 June – Stephen Moore, Llandaff Cathedral
Wednesday 3 July – Jonathan Hope, Gloucester Cathedral
Finally, on Thursday 11 July, Llandaff Cathedral Choir will give their annual Summer Concert which now traditionally marks the end of the academic year. The choir will perform works from their repertoire, including pieces by composers such as Byrd, Howells, Leighton, Mozart, Vierne and Wesley. More information about this concert will be available nearer the time.
