Friends’ Pilgrimage 2018 – Tuesday 2nd October
HISTORIC CHURCHES OF THE GOWER AND CHORAL EVENSONG IN SWANSEA
Leaving the Cathedral Green at 9-15a.m., we will travel west to Gower.
Our first stop will be St Mary’s Pennard, a late 13th century church with early medieval features and a Jacobean pulpit.
Next stop is St Nicholas Church, Nicholston, described as ‘a Victorian jewel box’ and known locally as the ‘Cathedral of Gower.’
There will then be time for your own choice of lunch at the Mumbles.
In the afternoon we will go to St Teilo’s Church, Bishopston, one of the earliest Christian sites in Wales with a history going back to the 5th century. According to the Book of Llandaff, apparently, a church was established here by St Teilo himself.
Our final church will be St Mary’s, Swansea, the civic church of Swansea, where we will have a cup of tea and a tour before Choral Evensong.
Tickets at £30 each – same price as 2017 – are available from Linda Quinn, 74 Pencisely Road, Cardiff, CF5 1DH (SAE please). Cheques should be made payable to The Friends of Llandaff Cathedral.
