Capel Mair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gyda\u2019r gwaith adeiladu wedi\u2019i gwblhau yn 1280, mae Capel Mair wedi\u2019i gyflwyno i\u2019r Forwyn Fair, Mam yr Iesu. Yng nghanol y reredos, y sgr\u00een gerfiedig o\u2019r 15fed ganrif tu \u00f4l i\u2019r allor, ceir delw o Mair a\u2019r Baban Iesu gan A.G Walker a osodwyd yno ym 1934. Mae pob un o\u2019r paneli euraid bob ochr, ddyluniwyd gan Frank Roper ym 1954, yn cynrychioli blodyn gwyllt sydd \u00e2\u2019i enw Cymraeg yn coff\u00e0u Mair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mae\u2019r gwydr lliw yn y ffenestr ddwyreiniol o\u2019r 19eg ganrif yn cynrychioli \u2018Cyff Jesse\u2019, ac yn darlunio llinach Crist fel y\u2019i ddisgrifir yn efengyl Matthew. Dyluniwyd pob ffenestr gan Geoffrey Webb rhwng 1920 a 1950.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mae\u2019r muriau a\u2019r nenfwd, o waith stensil, hefyd gan Webb ac yn dyddio o 1908 ac fe\u2019u hadferwyd ym 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mae beddrod Gwilym Brewys, Esgob Llandaf o 1266 hyd 1287 i\u2019w weld aro chr ogleddol yr allor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yn y ddeunawfed ganrif, adnabuwyd y capel fel y Capel Cymraeg o ganlyniad i\u2019r gwasanaethau Cymraeg a gynhaliwyd yno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capel Dyfrig<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Er i\u2019r capel gael ei adnabod yn wreiddiol fel Capel Mathew, mae\u2019r gofod bellach wedi\u2019i gysegru er cof am Dyfrig, Sant o\u2019r chweched ganrif ac un o nawddsaint y Gadeirlan. Mae\u2019r capel bach hwn yn hafan o heddwch, wedi\u2019I neilltuo ar gyfer gwedd\u00efo a myfyrio tawel. I\u2019r dde o\u2019r allor, ceir cwpwrdd ambry, lle cedwir y Sacrament Bendigaid (bara a gwin a gysegrwyd yn ystod y Cymun). Uwchlaw, gwelir delw cyfoes o Ddyfrig gan John Excell. Uwchben yr allow, ceir paneli\u2019n darlunio chwe niwrnod y cread, a ddyluniwyd gan yr artist o\u2019r 19fed ganrif Burne-Jones ac a waned gan Harold Rathbone yng nghrochendy Della Robbia ym Mhenbedw rhwng 1893 a 1906.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mae\u2019r reredos garreg o\u2019r canol oesodd oedd tu \u00f4l i\u2019r allor fawr yn wrieddiol bellach ar fur ogleddol y capel yngh\u0177d \u00e2 dau feddrod teulu Mathew. Rhennir y capel gan sgr\u00een o waith pren a metal, ddyluniwyd gan Robert Heaton er c\u00f4f am yr Archesgob Glyn Simon, Esgob Llandaf o 1957 hyd 1971.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capel Dafydd<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fe\u2019i adnabyddir fel Capel y Gatrawd Gymreig ac fe\u2019i ddyluniwyd gan George Pace. Fe\u2019i gysegrwyd ar yr 22ain o Fedi 1956 er c\u00f4f am y rhai fu farw mewn rhyfeloedd ers y ddeunawfed ganrif. Mae tabledi pres ar y llawr ac ar dalcen y seddi\u2019n coff\u00e0u swyddogion y Gatrawd Gymreig ac mae meini yn y mur ddwyreiniol yn dynodi\u2019r brwydrau y bu i\u2019r gatrawd ymladd ynddynt o 1792 hyd 1969.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saif y Majestas canol-oesol yn erbyn piler cyntaf y capel. Yn wreiddiol roedd yn rhan o\u2019r talcen gorllewinol hyd 1984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capel Illtud<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capel Teilo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capel bach ym mhen dwyreiniol yr eil ddeheuol, gerllaw Capel Mair, yw Capel Teilo. I\u2019r dde o\u2019r allor, mewn creirfa, gwelir y benglog a briodolir i Sant Teilo mewn gosodiad art nouveau o waith arian. Dychwelyd y benglog i\u2019r Gadeirlan o Awstralia ym 1994. Mae\u2019r gwydr lliw yn y ffenstr ddwyreiniol o waith William Morris a Ford Madox Brown ac yn darlunio Crist y Brenin gyda Zachareas, tad Ioan Fedyddiwr ar y dde, ac Elizabeth gyda Ioan Fedyddiwr yn blentyn ar y chwith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capel Euddogwy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nid yw\u2019r capel hwn, oedd ym mhen dwyreiniol eil y gogledd, yn bodoli mwyach. Symudwyd ei allor I eglwys arall yn Dilyn adeiladu\u2019r organ Newydd yn 2013. Saif cofebion cadwriaethol y llu awyr brenhinol yn ei safleoedd gwreiddiol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Y Corff<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mae\u2019r corff yn cael ei ddominyddu gan y bwa parabolaidd concr\u00eed sy\u2019n cynnal cist yr organ. Dyluniwyd hwn yn bulpudwm gan George Pace fel rhan o\u2019r adferiad wedi\u2019r rhyfel er mwyn gwahanu\u2019r corff a\u2019r c\u00f4r, tra\u2019n hwyluso golygfa ddi-dor drwy\u2019r Gadeirlan o\u2019r porth gorllewinol i Gapel Mair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mae\u2019r corff yn cael ei ddominyddu gan y Majestas (Crist yn ei fawredd) gan Syr Jacob Epstein \u2013 am ragor o wybodaeth cliciwch yma<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ar y llawr gerllaw\u2019r mur deheuol, gwelir delw sydd yn honedig yn cynrychioli Henri, Prior y Fenni ac Esgob Llandaf o 1193 hyd 1218. Yn y gilfach gerllaw\u2019r ddelw, gwelir cerflun pren Flemaidd o tua 1430 sy\u2019n darlunio Cysgadrwydd Mair Fendigaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Y cerflunydd o Benarth, Frank Roper, sy\u2019n gyfrifol am y cerflun efydd o Sant Ffransis yn pregethu i\u2019r adar, a gr\u00ebwyd yn 1991. Gwelir ei waith mewn rhannau eraill o\u2019r Gadeirlan a nifer o eglwysi ledled yr esgobaeth, yn ogystal ag eglwysi yn Lloegr megis Cadeirlan Durham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
