Rainbow Fair 2016

27th July 2016 by llandaff

Thanks to all who made the evening such a success:  those who ran stalls, games and activities, took part in the fancy dress competition, designed a poster, rode a donkey, danced or just came along to watch. It was a lovely evening with a real community spirit.

The rain held off and we finished with a glorious rainbow over the Cathedral.

Ordinations 2016

27th June 2016 by llandaff

The sun came out on Saturday 25th June for one of the most important days of the year for the Cathedral and Diocese. Six priests and four deacons were ordained by the Archbishop of Wales in a service which filled the Cathedral with over 600 people from across the Diocese. The sermon was given by the Reverend Dr. Ainsley Griffiths, the chaplain to University of Wales Trinity St David in Carmarthen. The Cathedral congratulates the new priests and deacons and wishes them well in their new parishes.

Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts, by your Holy Spirit you have appointed various orders of ministry in the Church: look with mercy on your servants
now called to be deacons and priests; maintain them in truth, and renew them in holiness, that by word and example they may faithfully serve you, to the glory of your name and the benefit of your Church; through the merits of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.  Amen.

Visit by former Dean’s Scholar

24th June 2016 by llandaff

We welcomed a former Dean’s Scholar John Raymond Davies back to the Cathedral for a guided tour.

                         IMG_3171

John was here to attend one of the Festival of Voice Bryn Terfel concerts with some of his family and was greeted by the Church Warden and Head Virger.

                                                                                                IMG_3183

The Cathedral was a significant part of John’s childhood and the memories came flooding back during his tour.

John’s family were kind enough to bring some photograph’s of his time at the Cathedral along with a photo taken during the service attended by HM the Queen on 1960 to mark the restoration.

Our Mission Statement

Llandaff Cathedral is a Christian gathering of the Church in Wales, which is a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion. It is also the seat of the Bishop of Llandaff. The Cathedral is a focus of pilgrimage and spirituality in the Diocese of Llandaff and for the City of Cardiff. Our purpose is therefore to worship God and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. In so doing, we welcome all who come here, irrespective of gender, race, creed or sexuality, in order that we might share and pass on our rich Christian heritage and the joy of Christian faith.
