The Cathedral School Girl Choristers

The Cathedral School Girl Choristers were founded in 1996 and enhance the work of the Cathedral Choir. These 20 girls lead Evensong on Mondays and Wednesdays during term time. Similarly to the boys, the girls of the choir are educated at the Cathedral School and rehearse before school or during the lunch break.

The Girl Choristers occasionally join with the Cathedral Choir for major services in the Christian year and for Diocesan events. They often undertake outreach events in the Diocese and make visits to other Cathedrals. To celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2016, the girls sang services at Westminster Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. In 2017 the girls enjoyed a 4-day stay in Edinburgh where they sang at both St Mary’s and St Giles’ Cathedrals and in 2018 have sung at St Paul’s Cathedral and Gloucester Cathedral.

Our Mission Statement

Llandaff Cathedral is a Christian gathering of the Church in Wales, which is a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion. It is also the seat of the Bishop of Llandaff. The Cathedral is a focus of pilgrimage and spirituality in the Diocese of Llandaff and for the City of Cardiff. Our purpose is therefore to worship God and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. In so doing, we welcome all who come here, irrespective of gender, race, creed or sexuality, in order that we might share and pass on our rich Christian heritage and the joy of Christian faith.
