Record-breaking Fundraising for Christian Aid
Christian Aid Week 2017 exceeded last year’s record-breaking total, with £16,554.86 raised! With the addition of Gift Aid, the final sum will be in excess of £19,000.
Sue Smith and the Christian Aid team are hugely thankful to everyone who participated and contributed. Money was raised during a range of events from May 14 to 20, including door-to-door collections, a concert and a ‘War on Want’ lunch. The money will go towards helping some of the 64 million refugees across the world. £19,000 would fund:
A meal for 7680 people;
Cooking stoves for 380 families; or,
A big fridge for 67 community kitchens.
Christian Aid was founded in 1945 by British and Irish churches to help refugees following the Second World War. Today, Christian Aid continues to work in partnership with churches, individuals and local organisations in communities worldwide, supporting people of all faiths and none to rise out of poverty.
