Christian Aid – Volunteers Needed

9th March 2017 by llandaff

JUST THREE HOURS TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF 150 REFUGEE FAMILIES – PLEASE HELP!

Table 2017When is help needed and what’s involved? Delivering an envelope to about 20 houses locally and collecting it again in
Christian Aid Week: 14th-20th May.
Is it worth the trouble?  Yes – absolutely!  Last year, we raised over £7,000 in Llandaff.  If we could do this again, we could (for example) provide cooking facilities for over 150 refugee families – a shred of normality in their desperately insecure lives.

I’m very busy – how long does it take?  Only about 3 hours – half an hour for delivery and the rest for two visits to collect.

Could I do it even if I’m out at work all day?  Yes, delivery and collection can be done in the light evenings or at the weekends.

Haven’t you got enough collectors already?  We have a marvellous team, but each year it diminishes due to house moves, illness, holidays etc., and at present we haven’t got enough to cover the Parish.

I think I should volunteer – where do I sign up?  There is a list on the Christian Aid table at the back of the Cathedral, or contact Sue Smith on 20569234 or at [email protected]  or any of the Christian Aid Team – details on the table by the West Doors.

THANK YOU!

No result from the Bishop of Llandaff election

23rd February 2017 by llandaff

Statement from the Church in Wales

After a three-day meeting of the Church in Wales’ Electoral College to elect a Bishop of Llandaff, none of the candidates considered received the number of votes required for election – a two-thirds majority.

The business of the College was rooted in prayer, worship and quiet reflection, as well as open and friendly debate and discussion.

Under the terms of the Constitution of the Church in Wales the responsibility of filling the vacancy falls to the Bench of Bishops.

The Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, John Davies, who is President of the Electoral College, said the process leading up to an eventual appointment would include a wide-ranging consultation of both the laity and the clergy from across the Church in Wales.

The Cathedral will remain closed…

22nd February 2017 by llandaff

Cathedral Closed…as the Electoral College of the Church in Wales have not made a decision to elect a successor as Bishop of Llandaff.

The College will carry on into a third and final day on Thursday. If it is unable to make a decision then this will pass to the Bench of Bishops.

Almighty God, giver of every good gift,
look graciously on your Church,
and with your heavenly wisdom
so guide the minds of those
who shall choose a bishop for this Diocese,
that we may receive a faithful pastor
to feed your flock
and lead us in the way of holiness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Our Mission Statement

Llandaff Cathedral is a Christian gathering of the Church in Wales, which is a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion. It is also the seat of the Bishop of Llandaff. The Cathedral is a focus of pilgrimage and spirituality in the Diocese of Llandaff and for the City of Cardiff. Our purpose is therefore to worship God and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. In so doing, we welcome all who come here, irrespective of gender, race, creed or sexuality, in order that we might share and pass on our rich Christian heritage and the joy of Christian faith.
