On Saturday 1st December at 7.30pm the Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society will be giving a performance of the great oratorio Elijah by Mendelssohn. This performance will mark the culmination of the Choral Society’s 80th Anniversary year, having been created in 1938 as a ‘Special Choir’ to support Llandaff Cathedral Choir in performance of larger scale works. In 1960, following a hiatus caused by the Second World War and the bombing of the Cathedral, the Special Choir became Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society and was, until 1990, conducted by the Cathedral’s Director of Music.
The concert will feature soloists Owain Browne, Alison Shone, Hannah Poulsom, Huw Ynyr and Jack Parry with the British Sinfonietta, and will be directed by LCCS Musical Director Alexander Thacker.
Tickets, priced at £15 or £7.50 for students, are available from Garlands on Llandaff High Street or through the LCCS website www.llandaffcathedralchoralsociety.org.uk
