We are looking forward to a historic day as final preparations and rehearsals take place for the consecration of Wales’ first woman bishop.
The Rev’d Canon Joanna Penberthy will be consecrated as Bishop of St Davids at Llandaff Cathedral on Saturday January 21st.
She was elected as the 129th Bishop of St Davids by members of the Electoral College in November. It was the first opportunity for a woman to be elected as a bishop following the Church’s decision in 2013 to enable the ordination of women bishops.
Canon Joanna will be consecrated by the Archbishop of Wales, Dr Barry Morgan, with the five other Welsh bishops, and the Archbishop will give the address.
We will be starting a new Sunday morning group for young people in Years 7, 8 and 9. This will meet on the last Sunday of each month for a 9am start in the Prebendal House. It will begin with croissants and a drink and is designed to encourage young people to explore what Christianity is all about in a relaxed environment. The first meeting will be on the 29th January.
