FUTURE PLANS

All the Cathedral clergy, together with the Archbishop, have agreed to host events in their homes during the next few months.

Our three Archdeacons are writing to all Parishes in the Diocese to enlist their support for the Appeal.

The Cathedral Choir will be visiting various Churches in the Diocese during the next few months to promote the Appeal.

You will all have seen the Appeal leaflet, and we hope will approve of our new logo. We hope soon to issue another leaflet setting out more details of the scheme to “Adopt an Organ Pipe”

At present the sum raised is £290,000 and the deposit for the Organ has been paid.

We will keep you informed as the Appeal progresses.

We hope you will continue to give generously as we need all the help possible if we are to meet our target by 2010.

Jeffrey Morgan

VOLUNTEERS  REQUIRED

We have made an excellent start to raising the vast sum that is needed to purchase and build a new organ and preserve the very precious musical heritage of Llandaff Cathedral for future generations. To achieve our goals the appeal now has to be widened not only to the general public but to the commercial and industrial communities in Cardiff. In addition we wish to involve the larger quoted companies with particular emphasis on companies with Welsh interests. As an example we received support for the launch from McCarthy & Stone which is a group engaged in the development, design and construction of retirement apartments and which has recently completed the building of Pritchard Court on the site of the old Hendre in Cardiff Road.

Before embarking on this next phase a great deal of research will need to be done and this is the area where your help will be greatly needed, valued and appreciated. Research is an interesting occupation and there are several tools at our disposal where the information that is needed can be obtained. Public Libraries, Telephone Directories, Electoral Rolls, Companies House and of course the internet are some of the sources.

WE NEED YOUR HELP and volunteers of all ages are required.
The older generation will bring their expertise and experience, while families may wish to take on one of the smaller projects which might give an educational benefit to the younger members. The work will be interesting and you will have the great satisfaction of having played an important role in this exciting and challenging project.

If you are interested please contact me on 2055 5431 or Michael Turk at the Cathedral Office.
